ITEM DESCRIPTION
For your consideration is my "standby" Drake R-4C receiver. Not a Collector's item, but a good solid performer over the years I have used it -- over 20+ years. Have upgraded to a high serial no R-4C and do not need three!!! Have checked it out against the others and its performance is comparable. Cosmetically most people would rate this a 8+ or 9 , but I am being conservative and saying an 8. Comes with a copy of the Manual and the following tubes which tested ok on my Hickok -- 6BA6 (2 off), 6EJ7 (2off), and 6BE6 (1 off). As far as I can tell, this has "Metal" and plastic wheels (cogs) for the main tuning dial. The other R-4C with a much higher serial no. has all "plastic" wheels, but the very high serial no. one has the same mechanical combination as this one. Perhaps you Drake R-4C experts can enlighten me on this subject. The winner of this Auction will be able to purchase additional Crystals they need (have a large selection) at the rate of $10.00 per Crystal. These will be billed separately through PayPal with FREE shipping, only if sent with the R-4C. Please check my Feedback and my other Auctions.

Please check out the new Photo I have posted showing the UNERSIDE of the R-4C. Still in good shape after all these years!!!
Questions and answers about this item
Q: Could you your statement about tubes. Does the radio come with a complete working set of tubes? Is the radio currently working?
A: I stated in the write up, the Radio is working and has for decades. The tubes that are being sent with it are referred to in Military circles as "running spares". Thank you for your interest.
Q: Is this model capable of being upgraded with the Sherwood receiving modifications? Thanks, Keith AK6ZZ
A: Talked to Jerry at Sherwood Engineering and he believes there would no problems relating to receiver upgrades. Thank you for your interest.
